Temnikova & Kasela announced as the recipient of FEAGA award

The Federation of European Art Galleries Association (FEAGA) have awarded Temnikova & Kasela gallery this year’s innovation and creativity award. The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday 15 June, 2016, before the public opening of the influential Art Basel art fair in Basel, Switzerland. The award will be conferred to the gallery in the presence of Ernst Hilger, President of the FEAGA Award Committee and Vice President of FEAGA, and Marc Spiegler, Global Director of Art Basel. In conjunction with the award ceremony, Temnikova & Kasela gallery’s program will be introduced by Karin Laansoo, Director of the Estonian Contemporary Art Development Center.

The FEAGA award was founded by Swiss art dealer and collector Ernst Beyeler in 2005, and will be awarded for the twelfth time this year. Inaugurated in recognition of galleries’ daily operations, Temnikova & Kasela will be receiving the FEAGA award for exemplary cooperation with the art community, creativity, and inspiration.

With the aim of acknowledging the commitment that operating a privately held commercial gallery requires, the FEAGA award is an important recognition, and has previously been awarded to such galleries as Esther Schipper, Berlin (2005); and Ellen de Bruyne, Amsterdam (2006), among others. Temnikova & Kasela was nominated for the ward by the Budapest-based Ani Molnár gallery, whose roster also includes the Estonian artists Marge Monko and Dénes Farkas and who received the award in 2013.

Founded in 2010, Temnikova & Kasela gallery represents both established as well as emerging artists from the region, while also regularly introducing internationally-recognized artists through their exhibitions program in Estonia. Being one of the few commercial galleries in Tallinn, Temnikova & Kasela has contributed enormously to the international exposure of Estonian contemporary art.

From 14-16 June, 2016, Temnikova & Kasela will be participating at LISTE Art Fair Basel with presentations by Inga Meldere and Kris Lemsalu.
