The Estonian Contemporary Art Development Center (ECADC) is gearing up for the start of the summer. After a successful fair week in New York with Temnikova & Kasela Gallery at the NADA fair, we crossed the Atlantic to give two seminars in Tallinn and organized the third installment of Tallinn Tuesdays with six participating galleries.

SEMINARS FOR GALLERISTS AND ARTISTS
On May 21st, 30 representatives of Estonian regional galleries gathered in Tallinn for a seminar on funding, programming, and installing works of contemporary art. A few days later on May 24th, gallerist Tanja Wagner from Berlin and artist Katja Novitskova from Amsterdam (via Tallinn) will share their insights and experiences on representing artists and being represented by a gallery.
TALLINN TUESDAYS
On May 21st, Tallinn Tuesdays returned for a third edition of gallery nights. Six Tallinn galleries participated with extended viewing hours and special events. This time we also successfully tested out a gallery tour on bikes. There were several programming highlights, among them an opening of “Solo Show II – All Power to the Factory Outlets” by London-based Merlin Carpenter at Temnikova & Kasela Gallery, and the installation “Brand New Paintings Caught in the Headlights of Parking Cars” by the Copenhagen-based Mikkel Carl at Vaal Gallery. DE APPEL at LISTE

In June the first graduates of the De Appel Galerist Course will be getting their feet wet in a real art fair context as they participate in Liste The Young Art Fair in Basel. Among them is Tallinn-based art historian Anna Laarits, who will present who will present Nicolas Feldmeyer’s work on June 13th. Liste will also see the conclusion of another project as Tallinn-based artist and young gallerist Mihkel Ilus joins the team at Kendall Koppe Gallery following his internship in Glasgow, which was funded by ECADC.
INTERNATIONAL FOCUS
Magdalena Kroener
ECADC will welcome Düsseldorf and New York based art critic and writer Magdalena Kroener in Tallinn in June. A prolific contributor for Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Kunstforum International, Monopol Magazine and Modern Painters, author of several catalogues, artists monographs and founder of newly-minted blog expandress.com, Magdalena will explore the Tallinn gallery scene and visit several artist studios.
PHOTO MONTH
Opening of Photography Fair 2012, Tallinn
ECADC is glad to announce our new partner – the Estonian Union of Photography Artists. We will collaborate with “Foku” (as the organization is known to locals) by helping to support its Photography Fair which is taking place for the third time this October, by organizing a seminar for collectors, by bringing Photoville director Sam Barzilay to Tallinn. Sam is the major force behind the New York-based organization United Photo Industries, and he will also be the first international jury member for the annual Artprint Award.

Please join us on May 31st at 5pm for the inauguration of the Estonian Pavilion at the 55th International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia. Dénes Farkas’s project Evident in Advance is curated by Adam Budak, and the Estonian Pavilion is organized by the Center for Contemporary Arts, Estonia.
Starting this year, the Estonian Pavilion will be launched together with the Estonian Academy of Arts fine arts summer school – Nordic-Baltic Art School (NBAS) in Venice, in collaboration with Nordic and Baltic countries and KUNO network.
