International Focus: Carmen Ferreyra / Buenos Aires

Please join us on Wednesday May 27th at 5pm at the Center for Contemporary Arts (Vabaduse väljak 6, Tallinn) for a talk by Indianapolis and Buenos Aires-based curator Carmen Ferreyra about Buenos Aires art scene and her work with newly founded platform Curatorial Program for Research.

 

Ferreyra completed her MA in Critical and Curatorial Studies in Modern Art at Columbia University in 2013, which concluded with the submission of her thesis, Guerrilla Artists: Forging National Identity in Postwar Guatemala. Since then she has conducted research for the Whitney Museum of American Art, El Museo del Barrio, and the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros in New York. She worked as the manager of Pinta Art Show in London and New York for six years and the acquisition advisor for Mundus Novus Latin American Art Collection for three years. In 2014 Carmen directed the Untitled fair in Miami Beach and worked as Director of Special Programs for the Bienal de las Fronteras, in Matamoros, Mexico.

 

In April of this year, Carmen founded an organization Curatorial Program for Research. CPR focuses on introducing cultural localities, the versatility of artistic practices and production realities in order to enable and facilitate for the professional development of participating curators. For Curators and by Curators, CPR was established in 2015, with headquarters in Indianapolis and Stockholm.

 

Carmen is visiting Tallinn as part of the ECADC’s Visiting Curators Program and will be exploring the local art scene as well as preparing for the first CPR group visit by international curators to Estonia in October 2015.
