Ede Raadik announced as the recipient of ISCP studio grant in New York

The Estonian Contemporary Art Development Center (ECADC) is pleased to announce the results of the 2020 open call for the International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP) two-month artist’s residency in New York. An international jury consisting of curators Anna Goetz, Kari Conte (ISCP) and Karin Laansoo (ECADC) has awarded the grant to Ede Raadik.

The jury valued Ede Raadik’s recent very active exhibition practice and her focus on socially stigmatized topics. The ISCP residency will allow the artist to continue her socially engaged art projects and expand her research area with the help of archive materials available at various New York institutions.

Ede Raadik is a feminist conceptual artist who, for the past three years, has been working with socially stigmatized topics like dysfunctional menstrual cycle, reproduction, abortion, menopause, sexual and mental abuse, trauma recovery and mental health. Her latest personal exhibitions include ‘The Best You Can Ever Be’ (2020, curated by Corina L. Apostol) at the Tallinn City Gallery, ‘Menopause Club NB! Exclusive’ (2019) at the artist-run space Kraam and ‘Sailin’ On The Red Sea’ (2019) at Kogo Gallery.

The International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) supports the creative development of artists and curators, and promotes exchange through residencies and public programs. ISCP is housed in a former factory building in Brooklyn; it has 35 studios, 2 galleries, and a project space. Since 2015, Estonians Marge Monko, Rael Artel, Paul Kuimet, Anu Vahtra and Laura Põld have taken part in the ISCP residency.

The ISCP-ECADC residency takes place between October 1st and November 30th, 2020. The stipend is supported by the Estonian Contemporary Art Development Center and the Estonian Ministry of Culture.
