ECADC organized international research trips for Estonian art professionals to Warsaw and Paris

In 2024, the Estonian Contemporary Art Development Center (ECADC) organized two research trips to Warsaw and Paris, offering Estonian art professionals an opportunity to deepen their expertise and expand their international networks. The program focused on providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of the local art scenes, promoting meaningful connections, and sharing insights from international colleagues.

From September 26–28, ECADC led a research trip to Warsaw during the Warsaw Gallery Weekend, one of the key contemporary art events in Eastern Europe. The trip allowed Estonian gallery representatives and curators to explore the diversity of Polish contemporary art, to better understand regional market dynamics, and to establish international connections. Over three days, participants visited numerous galleries, attended exclusive events, and joined curatorial tours. Meetings with gallerists and artists provided valuable insights into creative processes and highlighted various aspects of contemporary art, from experimental media to traditional painting. The trip inspired participants, facilitated connections that support future collaborations, and offered a broader perspective on global contemporary art trends.

From October 16–19, ECADC organized a research trip to Paris centered around the city’s prominent art fairs and other events. The trip began with a reception hosted by Estonian Ambassador in France Lembit Uibo, where the potential for Estonian-French art collaborations was discussed. In the next days participants visited art fairs such as Art Basel Paris, NADA Salon, Paris Internationale, and Asia Now, gaining insights into the latest developments in the international art market. Meetings with local curators and art professionals provided valuable insights and opportunities to establish new contacts. The trip also allowed participants to engage with Paris’ contemporary art environment and draw inspiration for future projects.

Both trips offered participants a focused opportunity to engage with the dynamics of the international art world, broadening their professional networks and perspectives. The insights gained and connections established during the program have the potential to seed new collaborations and support the development of Estonia’s art field on a global scale. ECADC remains committed to creating such opportunities to help Estonian art institutions access new markets and promote creative partnerships with European art institutions. The research trips were co-financed by the European Union.
