Anna Goetz
Anna Goetz, currently based in Mexico City, is a curator and writer with a special interest in artistic strategies that challenge governing societal hierarchies, narratives, and structures. Recent exhibition projects as an independent curator include a solo show with Banu Cennetoğlu at K21 Kunstsammlung NRW in Düsseldorf and the group show ‘Stage Of Maneuvers’ with Alia Farid, Claire Fontaine, Gabriella Torres-Ferrer, Georgia Sagri as part of the international curator festival curated by in Vienna (both 2019). She is also curating the new FORO section at ZONA MACO in Mexico City (2020–2022), and has initiated major group exhibitions, such as ‘Where do we go from here?’ (2019), ‘Casa Tomada’ (2018), both in Mexico City, and co-curated the 13th Sculpture Triennial ‘FOOD – Ecologies of the Everyday (2016)’ in Fellbach, Germany, together with Susanne Gaensheimer. Her last institutional appointment was at MMK Museum for Modern Art Frankfurt (2013–2017), where she curated and co-curated solo exhibitions by Ed Atkins, Laure Prouvost, Florian Hecker, Mathieu Kleyebe Abonnenc, Isa Genzken, and Subodh Gupta, and led the prestigious MMK Talks program ‘Art&Politics’ with guests such as Banu Cennetoğlu, Vasif Kortun, Kader Attia, Jimmie Durham, Dirk Snauwaert, and Hans Haacke. Before, she was Assistant Curator for the German Pavilion at the Venice Biennial 2013, Kunstverein Harburger Bahnhof and the Frankfurter Kunstverein. Parallel to her curatorial practice, she has been writing for various international art magazines, such as Artforum, Frieze, and Mousse, taught at various art academies and universities, and ran the project space Roberta in Frankfurt (2015-2017). Currently, she is initiating a new Mexico City-based platform for intercultural and process-based dialogue that will serve as a stage to probe institutionalized social constructs and structures that determine our thinking, categorizing and positioning, and to challenge one’s own matter of course.
Kari Conte
Kari Conte has been the Director of Programs and Exhibitions at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York since 2010. At ISCP, she leads residencies, exhibitions, and public programs in which she collaborates with more than a hundred artists each year. Recent exhibitions include solo presentations by Jennifer Tee, Eva Kot’átková and Richard Ibghy & Marilou Lemmens, and group exhibitions ‘Concrete Truth: Art and the Documentary’, ‘The Animal Mirror’ and ‘Aqueous Earth’. She has also curated exhibitions for the Aichi Triennale and Performa Biennial, among others. As a writer, she is interested in the intersection of art and politics as well as institutional and exhibition histories. She published ‘Seven Work Ballets’, the first monograph on artist Mierle Laderman Ukeles (Sternberg Press, 2016), and has contributed to numerous other books and journals. Upcoming publications include ‘Localizing the Contemporary’ (JRP|Ringier, Switzerland) and ‘Socially Engaged Art: A New Wave of Art for Social Change’ (Film Art Inc., Japan). Before joining ISCP, she was based in London, where she worked at Whitechapel Gallery and received an MA in Curating Contemporary Art from the Royal College of Art. Kari is the curator of Kai Art Center’s 2019-2020 residency season.
Karin Laansoo
Karin Laansoo is director of both the Estonian Contemporary Art Development Center (ECADC) and Outset Estonia. Since receiving her MA in Art History from the Estonian Academy of Arts, she has worked as a producer and gallery manager in Tallinn and New York. From 2008 to 2013 she was director of PointB, an international artist residency in Brooklyn, New York. She has curated numerous exhibitions and projects in both the United States and Europe as well as published the award-winning book 22+ Young Estonian Artists (2005). In 2013 the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs honored Karin for her work in introducing Estonian contemporary culture in New York. She was also co-recipient of the Estonian National Endowment annual main prize in visual art for 2017.
