Gallerist Master Course 2014
ECADC is producing its second Gallerist Master Course in Tallinn, Estonia, offering training for both practicing and emerging gallerists.
Under the guidance of Ilaria Bonacossa (Museo Villa Croce, Genova), Nur El Shami (Art: I: Curate, London) and Kirstie Skinner (Outset Scotland), course participants will learn about various artist representation and exhibition models, philanthropic activity in contemporary art, commissioning and developing projects with emerging artists, and managing the logistics of an exhibition, as well as building an audience through engagement and communication. This 6-day intensive course is geared towards MA students with backgrounds in Art History or Curatorial Studies who have a specific interest in long-term collaborations with emerging artists.
Three selected Estonian participants will receive offers for international internships in 2015.

Biographies
Ilaria Bonacossa is a curator and art critic. After working for seven years at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Torino, she has been the artistic director of Museo Villa Croce in Genova since 2012. Ilaria is also founder of Art@Work, a collective that commissions and develops for-profit and nonprofit contemporary art projects. She has curated numerous solo and group exhibitions of international and Italian artists like Nick Devereaux, Ian Kiaer, Zhang Enli, Tony Conrad, Julieta Aranda, Massimo Grimaldi, Alberto Tadiello, Katrin Sigurdardottir and Thomas Grunfeld among others. In 2007 she was a member of the jury for the Golden Lions of the 52nd Venice Biennale and in 2013 co-curated the Pavilion of Iceland presenting Katrin Sigurdardottir.
Nur El Shami is the co-founder and director of the international arts platform articurate.net. Prior to co-founding articurate.net, Nur was in the luxury goods industry for several years, where she worked for international companies in Milan, Mumbai, New York, Paris and London. Nur holds a degree in Cultural Management and she sits on the committee of the UK-based charity Art for Youth. She was nominated as a Member of the European Cultural Parliament in 2014.
Kirstie Skinner is a researcher, writer, lecturer and consultant specialising in contemporary art, with extensive experience in facilitating audience and professional development in the visual art sector. As well as teaching at both Edinburgh College of Art and the University of Edinburgh, Kirstie has devised and delivered contemporary art education programmes for clients including the National Galleries of Scotland, Contemporary Art Society, and Glasgow International Festival; facilitated professional development trips for and served as a specialist advisor to the Scottish Arts Council; and undertaken research and documentation for the National Collecting Scheme for Scotland. She is on the board of the Collective Gallery in Edinburgh, and has been collecting art for over 10 years. In 2013, Kirstie launched Outset Scotland, a philanthropic organisation dedicated to supporting ambition and originality in contemporary art in Scotland.
